I watched an old Shirley Temple Movie on youtube last night. I think it was made in 1936 and it was called "Dimples". She was an amazing child star that's for sure and I doubt she ever was a racist at any time in her life. However that movie had many scenes in it that would make you cringe. The parts that the black actors got were caricatures of racist sterotypes. And then there were the dancing scenes with the one little white girl dancing with a whole bunch of white people all in blackface. As a white person I was embarrassed to watch this shit. And that wasn't even considered racist all all back in those days. At least not by white people.

Indeed. Many of the classics are peppered with racism. Holiday inn back in the day was one of my favorites. Viewing it today, I find it is particularly offensive, from Mammy waiting on the rich white Cosby to Cosby in blackface....
