I've spent some time in Israel and think I understand the historical basis for their actions/attitude fairly well. That said, I don't buy the whole "they're our only ally over there and therefore we need to support them through thick and thin" argument that's frequently bandied about. While they may be "ally" of sorts, an ally "who does not give two shits about anyone else" isn't much of any ally in my book.
