I can't remember how many workers that I know who have been able to keep their jobs because they worked under a collective bargaining agreement with a just cause provision. I do know that I have handled hundreds of calls where I have had to tell someone who has lost a job that the reasons they were fired would not stand up under just cause, but that absent a contract, it is not illegal for an employer to be unfair, stupid, arbitrary - and even discriminatory, so long as it is not for the wrong reason. BTW, it's not illegal to discriminate on the basis of ink, piercing, hair length, beard, of just being unattractive.

Regards,

D-Ray
