Political philosophers sometimes argue that the maintenance of national pride among citizens simply requires a “forgetting” of unsavory facts about their country’s past. As writer Sam Adler-Bell details, GOP laws designed toward that end have morphed into an effort to “assuage white guilt” on a mass scale.

To be clear, politicians of all ideologies encourage such “forgetting.” Liberal leaders frequently suggest our nation’s progress has followed a more uniform trajectory than it actually has. But as a group of historians argues in “Myth America,” this tendency is far more pernicious among Republicans: They have largely abandoned the goal of reckoning with our white-supremacist past, in part to play down the lingering effects of racism in the present.

The only thing more stupid than responding here with an insult is choosing such a clichéd, boring insult. But you never let the low-quality of what you manage to come up with stop you. Just saying anything, however pathetic it may be, allows you to delude yourself that you are carrying on gloriously in the 'fight.'

No worries. I consider the insult of an intellectual cripple to be a compliment.

And of course, I was not worried for you.

The basic problem is that when if one has bought into extremism of any sort, "live and let live" or "it takes all kinds" no longer applies. White Nationalism aka Trumpism, Fascism aka DeSantism, all have cornered themselves into this extreme thinking. And to propagate this thought, its adherents also need to be ignorant and ill educated. Well, Floriduh leads the way by banning subjects and books.
