I've been wondering for decades how long it would take for the bubbas to realize that they've been played like fiddles by the GOP elite. I still don't think they fully understand the depth of the ruse, as they are nominally still Republicans. The bubbas' racism and xenophobia probably still prevent them from getting on board with the party that represents the working man, so it will take a while for this whole mess to shake out. I lived overseas for both the 1980 and 1984 elections and didn't bother to vote via absentee ballot.

I still think I did the right thing in supporting him AT THE TIME. We had gone very left and needed a correction to the right, IMO. Problem is, to this day, we are still going right.

Trump supports his 'so beautiful' self. Obviously one has some freedom to imagine the specific characteristics of that. You seem to imagine he's a reasonable and well-meaning fellow, a Rotarian, say.

I think there are plenty enough dots connected to yield a different image.
