Not surprisingly I disagree.
If we believe Zim, word for word, he still needs to be convicted of manslaughter.
Simply stated, a child in the USA needs to have a reasonable expectation that he/she can go to the store for candy and not be stalked and murdered on the way home.
In fact, it should be instinctive to all adults in society to look out for all children in society, not murder them.
BTW, if anyone believes everything Zim said was true I got a bridge over where I used to live (Brooklyn) to sell you.

However, Chas, as the case unfolds and facts are revealed, I find more and more of my suspicions validated.
I really don't see how he can wiggle free of guilt, save for the fact that a lack of witnesses casts a bit of a shadow that may allow him to walk despite his obvious guilt. And that is a very, very thin veil.

The problem from the little bits and pieces of the trail I've seen is the Prosecution is struggling in presenting it's case. Leaving the Defense running the show.

Yes we know what happened a guy stopped his car got out and started stalking a kid.
Yes we know what happened a man killed a teenager. One armed with skittles.
The reason why I think so many here are upset about this topic is that this event is an uncomfortable truth about the Second Amendment.
Most of us will buy a weapon....go hunting, have it in our house, etc. Most of us will be responsible and lock it away when not using it and teach our children about the responsibility of fire arms.
However there is going to be a small percentage of people who will abuse this right to the point of taking other people's lives. Happens all the time here in America.
At what point does my right to buy a weapon start to be paid in blood by innocent persons? I can buy an AR-15 and put it on my wall and shoot it at the range on weekends. I will never hurt a fly. But in the back of my mind I would be thinking that those kids in Connecticut paid a price for me to have that weapon.
Trevor Martin paid a price too....he did not start the incident. Perhaps he was just defending himself..standing his ground when he started to push back against a wannabe cop who had a hard on carrying a Tek-9 in his pocket. Whatever the case my ability to freely purchase and carry a weapon was paid for by Martin. And others killed everyday by weapons.
I do not hate guns....but I am really getting concerned about a country that is casually becoming armed and dangerous. Collateral damage is just another polite way of saying that no one I loved got killed today.
I guess what I am really trying to say is best said in an old science fiction story by Ursula K. Lequin. I think it won the Hugo.

Well stated, Robbin.
Yes, I believe people have the right to defend themselves. However, I then think of getting shot by someone who "felt" threatened by that imposing figure walking down the street at 3 a.m......
And, I can't help but think they should have to have greater justification before they take my life.

That's just epic ass hattery.
It's not "defense" if you created the situation that made it happen.
It may not be 1st degree murder (by some definitions) but Zimmerman committed a crime.
Jesus Christ, f*cking loser wannabe gun nut troglodytes whose entire sense of self-worth is wrapped up in caliber and feet-per-second need to be locked in a cage together until their unique Social Darwinism leaves us with only one.
Him (or her), we make listen to Kenny G until they shoot themselves.
Problem solved.

So I'm an epic ass hat because I don't agree that Zimmerman created the situation.
As a matter of fact, I find your entire statement to be quite insightful. Provided any insight can be gained from someone who holds their personal opinion in such high esteem that anyone who disagrees is worthy of being denigrated with straw man attacks and personal insults.
Besides, I kind of like Kenny G. While not my favorite, he doesn't grate on my nerves like much which passes for music in this day and age.
You know, I'm beginning to suspect that you don't much like me.

So...who did create the situation in your opinion? You say it was not Zimmerman so that only leaves one other.
What exactly did the young black man do to create the situation, in your opinion?
