Groove Tubes were/are making their own 6L6 tube in southern Ca. I have a quad of GT labeled Sovetek EL84 I bought a dozen years ago for my Scott 222, yep, a stout tube that really sounds great. I need to dig out that amp and power it up sometime lol. The 350 tuner too.

What is amazing is that the people in Russia and China have figured out that there is niche market for this stuff here. People complain about the quality of Chinese tube amps but it amazing they figured out Americans and Europeans would buy them in the first place. That is the internet for you.

The Chinese are so much different from the Russians. Whilst the Russians are basically exporters of energy and raw material the Chinese are not content with copying but want to be innovators not only in relation to military goods but also to commercial ones. To this end, they have invested a lot in new institutions and have sent thousands of their country men abroad to the best institutions.
They have a learning curve but they are making good progress.
One is impressed by two things: The burgeoning middle class in such a short span of time.
The formidable infra structure work done in the third world, especialy Africa.

The Chinese also have no belief in our concepts of intellectual property. They will steal whatever they can from wherever they can, and their government will support the companies, regardless of how blatant the theft is. Pretty easy to develop a company when you are working like that.

It's tough. Without our custom the factory wouldn't be in Bangladesh. And no one would be going to jail either even if it was.
Many don't realize how desperately poor millions upon millions of Chinese are. Subsistence farmers really.

Oh so THAT'S why Clinton signed it
Here's what he said when it passed (note multiple references to his campaigning FOR it):

However many it takes to fill the coffers for the mid terms. It takes money to get the message out that the Teabaggers are nuthin' more than shills for the Kochsuckers.

The best $200 tool that I've ever bought. They've saved my toes on a number of occasions and I don't need to break out the sledge as often. Those Carolinas' look to be similar but they don't sell 'em out here.
Size 11 eee's here.
