Trump, OTOH, never had a reason to believe he won and recent sworn testimony demonstrates he (and everyone around him) knew he lost and had planned his antics well
before the election. The testimony revealed that he told DOJ officials to simply (and falsely) announce election fraud and he and his Republican Congressional friends would "do the rest." He also said to a White House staffer not to admit he lost because "it was too embarrassing." Knowing that he lost, he planned an autocoup and incited a riot to pressure Congress to install him as President.
In short, under scrutiny your comparison falls apart completely and is a BS post-facto rationalization of Trump's outrageous and criminal behavior.
