If sedation is legal, why can't they use sodium pentothal to extract critical information ?
The 'truth serum' works, at least some of the time, I've experienced it myself.
Granted, it would be a violation of the fifth amendment, and the information couldn't be used in court, but it could save lives.
There was a local situation in which a guy shot and killed his girlfriend, then abducted her 3 year old daughter. They caught the guy right away, but the toddler wasn't with him. He wouldn't say anything about the little one.
Seems like they could have used sodium pentothal, if it had been available. They probably could have found the child right away. He had already killed the girl before he was arrested, but she wasn't found until many weeks later.
