Yes but the "fear" is still a powerful argument for separation, in addition to the fact that suicide bombing is still used by Muslims else where.

Suicide bombings once really rattled the Israelis.
I know because I spoke to several Israelis whom it really messed up.
However it diminished the Palestinians.
