Man, people hate those Democrats.

I was looking at this article this morning. I've sure heard a lot on the liberal media about how folks have had it with the Democrats. Sure enough, people don't like them. Least popular, Pelosi- 35% favorable.

Ah, but it seems the only thing people dislike more than a Democrat is a... wait for it... Republican! John Boehner- 24% favorable! Wow! If you watch the "liberal media" you would think Pelosi and Reid were the least popular people on earth.

The lesson? Yeah, there's some backlash to a party that gets such a huge gain. Always is. But I wouldn't be too quick to look for a huge Republican swing in 2010.

Truth be told I think people are pissed off with the lot of them. Where you might see some fun prior to November is in the Primaries. If the tea party boys and girls push for the extreme right we may see some very interesting races. We may also see some Democratic stalwarts surprised in the Primaries.

finnbow 01-17-2010 10:51 AM

Unfortunately, I think the congressional leaders of both parties are pretty feckless. Between Pelosi, Reid, McConnell and Boehner, there isn't one I'd buy a used car (or a piece of used audio equipment) from. Certainly, there something wrong with the system they use to pick their leaders. Plus, once they've been selected the only thing that'll get 'em tossed is being found in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy* (and that may not even work from Pelosi considering that she's from SF).

I disagree about Pelosi. She got caught, and is just an all round unlikeable lady, and I use that word very liberally. Not unlike Palin and clinton.

BlueStreak 01-17-2010 10:58 AM

Choosing a candidate this November will be like choosing between an anus and a rectal opening.

Useless, all of them.

There is the problem, an anus is useful, try keeping it shut for four days.:D

I would have to believe that unless there is a visible upturn in the economy, many of these folks are going to be bounced.

Yes, all three women are very polarizing.

But only one is a certified idiot. Both Pelosi and Clinton seem to be reviled for their effectiveness.

Actually, Clinton is getting generally high marks as Secretary of State. Maybe in time she'll end up being admired by most of us.

The big problem the GOP has with Pelosi is that she is her father's daughter and knows very well how to play hardball politics.

The Clinton's major sin was kicking the GOP to the curb and everyone knows that they, the GOP, rule by divine right.

Exactly. If she were a man she would be a son of a bitch or bastard, since she is female we call her a bitch.

We all jump back and forth between the various "sub-fora" here. No need to post the same thing to several of them.

Indeed, I call her Peloski, she does indeed remind me of an old school politician.

They run the country further into the ground with populist tax cuts to make people think they care about them. How's that working out?

Grumpy 01-19-2010 03:58 PM

I did not say I agreed or liked it.

noonereal 01-19-2010 03:59 PM

I am still waiting on something from 82 to trickle down.
