A vote per rep in Congess? That sounds fair to me.

Blue, I don't HATE government. It's a neccessary evil. But the clear fact is, our form of it has been more successful than most.

An' I be a city hood.

BH, BAM!

Perhaps certain state Congressmen in WI should think about the majority will sometime

True dat. So why all of the teabag festooned zealots in the streets last coupla years, screaming about the evil government?

An' I be a city hood.

I know'd it. I can smell a city slicker from a mile away, across two hog farms and a leaky septic tank.

Why should they? Republicans sure haven't cared about majority rule since November of 2008. If that's how they want it-------turnabout is fair play.

As always Blue. But we're not running and hiding either

I'm really not a city boy - I'm a suburban boy

We take ruling the country for granted lol.

Denying a quorum is a legitimate parliamentary tactic. At least those doing it are known and the public can make their feelings known about these tactics in the next election.

Not so the silent hold, or even the filibuster, in the US Senate. Nowadays you can filibuster without speaking a word or put a legislative hold on something without your identity being known.

BTW, even Honest Abe took drastic action in an attempt to deny the Illinois house a quorom.

"In 1839, the Illinois House was meeting in special session and came up with a plan to vote on a Democratic bill to require the state’s central bank to make payments in gold or silver instead of paper money. The Whig Party opposed it and turned to Representative Abraham Lincoln to deny the majority Democrats a quorum.

Lincoln and another House Whig walked into the chamber to make a motion to call for a quorum. There wasn’t one. However, the next day, when Lincoln made the same attempt, the House speaker locked the doors behind them. With a quorum present, Lincoln and others jumped out of a window to try to stop the vote."

It looks like the "Civil War" was fought with far more than guns. Crap started way back then resulted in the corruption of the Constitution by the 17th Amendment. Man's greed for power always corrupts in the end.

The 17th Amendment, passed in 1913, doesn't touch on my main beef; namely that Wyoming has the same amount of Senate representation as California, despite having less than 2% of its population.

The way I understand the Founders original intent was for the people to be represented by the House and the individual States were to be represented by the Senate, as sovereign entities. The Senate should have no direct ability to do anything about the "peoples business". That was left to the House. The Senate was to work in conjunction with the House to protect what the citizens of a particular State thought was in their best interest, state by state.

All of which means nothing now!!
