It's the comments.. relentless comments calling a young teenage boy a thug and a N* even though he wasn't even holding the TOY gun, just happened to be standing near somebody. (I used to play with toy guns as a child in England)... Not even the first story I heard of cops gunning down a child with a toy gun.

Then the defense comments of this POS cop who murders someone, plants evidence and fabricates a story. How much longer are we going to tolerate reading the comments of people who call victims thugs and n*?

I would crack someone in the face if they said that near me, but this is the internet and disgusting vile opinions are par for the course here.

So let's keep information like this in mind when we're tempted to put all of this off to white on black racism. Maybe your data is correct...maybe it's accurate that a black person is 21 times more likely to be gunned down by the police than a white person. But when the focus is on situations like Martese Johnson screaming, "You fucking racists!", it appears that we are not looking at this properly.

The same ProPublica data analysis from which Jamelle Bouie got the information quoted above comes this:

Mostly white officers. But in hundreds of instances, black officers, too. Black officers account for a little more than 10 percent of all fatal police shootings. Of those they kill, though, 78 percent were black.

White officers, given their great numbers in so many of the country's police departments, are well represented in all categories of police killings. Those people of color represented 46 percent of all those killed by white officers.

I find no reference to any data like this in any discussion I've seen regarding the skin color of police officers who are actually killing all these young black men.

It's important to note that the first cop to arrive at the scene after Scott was murdered was black and that he saw Slager drop the Taser next to the body.

And that had Feidin Santana not been on the scene with his smartphone, the official reporting by both black and white officers on the scene would have had this going down as a "good shoot."

PS - "murder" is a legal term. There's no "murder" until somebody has been convicted of "murder."
