How's the burning monks working out?

If the world see the US as the biggest aggressor nation they may need to come to grips with reality.

I see Obama KEPT the previous treasury guys in (no change?), as did Bush keep Clintons.

Pete, this post is just irrelevant, illogical carping.

Losing sucks, doesn't it?

So the Canadians went to Afghanistan to help and your effing Air National Guard pilots dropped bombs on them. Where do you keep getting this fantasy that the world must come along and assist in our follies?

We certainly did. Canada paid a heavy price for our work in Afghanistan. As did the UK.
The allies aren't going to support illegal and immoral wars like Iraq.

Name me a country that has killed more people in the past 20 years than the US.

I'm in a pretty good mood. But I'm not going to write a book on Chinese occupation.

The US happened to kill a lot of people (mostly bad guys) because they take the brunt of fighting bad guys.

I realise that it's hip to blame the US for all the worlds' ills.

The UK did help out in Iraq....

Maybe because, except for Tibet, there isn't any.

I dunno John, in the PBS show on the guys that traced Marco Polos' travels the folks in NE China hated their Chinese oppressors.

A cursory glance though Google mentions Tibet, Inner Mongolia, East Turkistan ( I think this is the Marco guys area), some bits of India and other pieces....

I find this conversation strange.

Mongolia? You mean where the Mongol Dynasty and the Mongol Empire came from?

It gets confusing. The Mongols conquered huge swaths of Asia and what is now India but was at the time a collection of competing feudal states. In the processthey were basically absorbed by the cultures they occupied. Shah Jahan who built that most famous "Indian" monument, the Taj Mahal, was a Mongol ruler.

China, per se, has never been an imerialist country. They have historically been pretty isolationist. Their principle experience of imperialism has been in being occupied and fought over by other imperialist countries.

That's recent, very recent by Chinese standards. All countries bow to the Middle Kingdom.
