I love the blunt and brutal honesty of Mahoning Valley dwellers.

I've told this story before, but Nugent is the only concert act I've ever walked out on. A friend and I scored a pair of free tickets for him playing near Frankfurt, Germany in ~1980. It was so obnoxiously loud (and otherwise obnoxious) that we went outside and drank beer on the curb until after the show waiting for the GI's inside to come out to the bus we were on.

I just finished reading this thread. What was it about again???

It did remind me of a thought I had on medical costs, plans, and coverage. I'll start thread on that though rather than hijack this one.

Don't bother. Nearly all threads turn into Bush is an asshole, Raygun's an asshole, Romney's an asshole, Republicans are assholes, Conservatives are assholes, big business concerns are assholes and furthermore, they are all stupid. The only thread that hasn't gone in that direction is the music thread and even it skirted that territory once. I will say that there are bits of thought and wisdom from both sides of the coin sprinkled between all the assholes. It's just that sometimes it is a smelly job digging them out. Rant over. Carry on.

If the shoe fits ...

As the OP, I was wondering if the Republicans/Conservatives on this board were happy or not with the direction their party has taken over the last decade or two.

I think the Repubs are in transition. They're now moving to the right of the country club Repubs that the Dems used to find so easy to buffalo. I think that's a good thing. The Repubs don't have too many friends in the press, so they'll never win the PR war.

Change is hard, and they'll step on their weenies more than once in the process. However, I'll wait until this stew is cooked before I pass final judgement.

However, right back at you with the same question. I'll post it in a different thread.

That's far from being a fair or objective statement, John. I think it's untrue that
"nearly all". threads degenerate into name calling and, among those that do, the Left gets as much abuse as the Right.

Did you miss this part?

As far as "fair or objective", I reserve the right to my own opinion just as I believe you have a right to yours.

No, I didn't. Since it fails to acknowledge any brickbats from the Right and merely concedes that the Left's contributions aren't entirely negative, I don't see it as a defense of your unfairly one-sided statement.

John
