I prefer the catfish I catch out of the small lake Fayetteville were I have a boat docked. It is a couple miles from my house. Every year we have a huge fish fry to eat up all the fish we catch. We build a big pit out of concrete blocks, build a charcoal fire, put large cast iron skillets on the hot coals full of oil, and put out the breading. You dredge the fish, coat it, and fry it. We have another section with grates to cook corn on the cob with the husk on that has been soaked in water. After it is cooked you shuck it and stick it into large tubes of real butter. It don't get any better than that.
Sounds good to me.

Just made arrangements to spend a week at Bull Shoals in June, my favorite place to go. We'll be staying at the Pinder this time, as the fishing camp we've been using for the last 8 years has gone kaput.

A terrible shame, Americana is continuing to disappear, and once it's gone, it's gone for good. As far as I know, the Pinder is the last of the '50's era seedy fishing camps down there, and I'm afraid it will be gone before too long as well.

I intend to enjoy it as long as I can.

A forty pound Brown Trout! Dayum that thing must've looked prehistoric. eastern side of the Sierra Nevada has some really good Brown fishin'.

Lion's club here in Costa Mesa puts on a huge fish fry every year that's truly a feast and the proceeds go to a long list of charity work. Lots of ocean rock cod that's local caught, ummmm. I've always grilled corn that way it tastes a hell of a lot better than boiled like most do.

I can see that you appreciate the essence of fishing.

The reason I don't fish is because I might catch one.

I like to cook and eat seafood but that's all I want to do with it.

Fishing is something you do to kill time while you're not fishing.

Oh, man. I could go weeks without eating meat or poultry if I had access to cheap, plentiful and fresh seafood. In fact, when I lived in New Orleans for 3 years, there would be times when I honestly could not remember the last time I ate meat (and I'm an unabashed meat eater).
