Friend of mine got to wrench the Heber Creeper locos as well as occasionally take one out. He also owned and restored White and Stanley steam cars. Good times!

Super cool. I'd love to drive an old steam car.

Go to Jay Leno's garage on Youtube and peruse the steam car vids, particularly Howard Hughs Doble roadster and the Stanley Vanderbilt racer. Check out the others as well.

Local bud and his son are slowly rebuilding a 1920s Stanley, one "someday" project finally seeing progress. They took the chassis & running gear out for some test runs last winter, I put up some pix in another thread somewhere.

I watched Lenos' Stanley, that is super cool, thanks!

Got my little Dickies tool roll. For the money it's really nice. I managed to get 1/4 through 7/8 combos in it and it still rolls up nicely, so I ordered 3 more, one ea for metric, oversize, and shorty/flange. They will all fit where I had two hard racks. 4 into 2, win.

Took the tools I was (hesitiatingly) getting rid of to 'ReStore', run by Habitat for Humanity, and got a 'ReScore'

Since I got the pallet rack (which is awesome) I now have a work bench area, half the lower shelf. I've been looking for a work stool to go with it. How hard can it be? Craigslist right, $20 or so? Wrong! Turns out old industrial stools are apparently 'steampunk', a style of décor that uses old factory stuff. So the stools got stupidly expensive as hipsters etc decided they were cool.

Another good reason to not like hipsters?

But at ReStore there were - 2! Both with backrests even. O the joy. One was smaller than the other which was a draw, but the bigger one was such a nice one I had to get it. Height adjustable, wheeled, $10. Basically exactly what I was looking for.

Talking to the guy in charge of donations, they debated throwing them out.

I originally thought it was pre-63 because of no zip code on the address but when I cleaned/lubed/tightened it up I came across the paper date stamp - '74.
