Lao Tsu's comment on this symbol, translated by James Legge:

"The Tao produced One; One produced Two; Two produced Three; Three produced all things. All things leave behind them the Obscurity (out of which they come), and go forward to embrace the Brightness into which they have emerged, while they are harmonised by the Breath of Vacancy.

What men dislike is to be orphans, to have little virtue, to be as carriages without naves; and yet these are the designations which kings and princes use for themselves. So it is that some things are increased by being diminished, and other things are diminished by being increased.

What other men thus teach, I also teach. The violent and strong do not die their natural death. I will make this the basis of my teaching."

(Copied down from: F. Max Müller, The Sacred Books of China; The Tao Te Ching of Lao Tsu. Oxford University Press 1891)

The violent and strong do not die their natural death, Mr. Kaarma!!!

I remember reading that in the Tao.

I also remember reading this;

"Put your sword back in it's place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."

We are warned of Karma in Christianity too.

Chris, I often fear that my country has fallen in love with the sword (guns). I also fear that, eventually, our society will breakdown and degenerate into a vigilante justice hell like no one has ever seen before.

In fact, there is a movement afoot that actively supports the concept of refusing to acknowledge governmental authority, each individual making their own laws and being "judge, jury and executioner".

And, they are being watched.

They think they are fighting for "freedom". I think they are insane.

Funny that the name of the killer is Kaarma. Pretty similar to Karma.

Everybody knows the "Simpsons", no doubt the best (apart from Frank Zappa) America has to offer. So everybody knows Mr. Flanders, Homer's neighbour. He is a fantastic parody on the fanatic American Christian. Probably there are many many Flanders characters in reality.

Now I think that Christianity is great as far it is for example related to things like the Sermon of the Mountain. But it is so sad that a lot of deeply religious American Christians disrespect the wise words of the carpenter and all those beautiful things in the Holy Scriptures like the Ten Commandments in their daily life.
