That would probably be more effective in disenfranchising some GOP voters than the voter ID stuff is doing to disenfranchise Dem voters.

I was using that example because of how legislation becomes expanded and more intrusive over time. I not only wear a seatbelt, but had my first three cars outfitted with racing quality harnesses. I was saved by a seatbelt when an 88 year old woman blew a stop sign and T-boned me. The Simpson 4 inch belt and harness kept me safe. She hit me and then I took out a fence and hit a maple tree at about 35-40mph. The tree didn't move and the city was kind enough to send me a $800.00 invoice for the damage. I'll never forget the woman telling the cop that she didn't recall stopping at the stop sign—that's because she didn't. I'm all for seatbelts and other restraint systems. My big complaint is with people that do not take driving seriously.

I installed lap belts in a 62 Falcon Futura, saved my ass when I hit black ice , then the snowbank, then rolled it over.
