Yet to hear any specifics from the four ^H^H^H^H three folks in the Primaries other than a trip to the moon.

That's to be expected when you aren't really listening. We've been listening to the incumbent for almost 4 years now and still nobody can truthfully recite any specifics.
Character. We all know politicians who are very 'small' men. Usually the ones who rise to the top, the leaders, are 'bigger' men as far as character goes. Our current POTUS is clearly no leader.

Certainly dangerous territory to be treading... but Obama's used to that. He's been 'lying his ass off', in the words of Eddie Murphy, for 3+ years now and his dim witted supporters still love him.
I'm pretty sure this one's a particularly naive and unfortunate whopper, which may indeed come home to roost, but let's just see, while Obama's swirling in this world of delusion, if he tries to pin this one on Bush too... my money's on 'not'.

Whether or not the "War on Terror" is a semantic contrivance, it seems that it may well be over or close to it.

Meh. The "War on Terror" will never "end", I don't believe. But, what is finite is our ability to fight it the way we have been. Large scale, boots on the ground invasions with subsequent long term occupations is an expensive, wasteful and foolish strategy when fighting against an enemy that operates in amorphous, far flung cells.
It's a spy, surveille and assassinate game.

Considering that "terror" is a tactic as opposed to an adversary, how do you win a war against what is basically an idea?
I'd tend to vote for keeping your mouth shut and minding your own business, but from personal experience, that doesn't work all of the time either.
I'd almost become a hermit, other than I know that some sumbitch wouldn't even be happy with that. And I'd have to deal with him.

Yep, it's impossible to lead when your primary talking point is to characterize half the populace as "clingers" that lack empathy and selflessness in support of a nebulous social justice worldview.

So, you've finally come to see them for what they are?
