Also profits are way up according to all reports. Did not someone say that when profits climbed companies would start hiring? Hello?
Must admit that Home Despot here is hiring and a major local bus company is hiring.

Then why do we keep on losing jobs to them?
Seriously, and the last time I bought tools a Sears, I had a bit of a unique experience...Two sets of pin-punches hanging on the hooks, one "Made in USA", the other "Made in China" two slightly different brand names----Same price.
Of course, I bought the American made ones.
If American workers are more productive, and the price gap is closing, then what gives? Why are we still outsourcing?

Heck if I know. I do know for a fact that the tooling giant Kennemetal is bringing back production from India and manufacturing in Ohio is growing.

Trust me, the employees at Home Despot will NEVER see any of the increased profits that those bastards haul in.
My favorite trick of theirs is the "Homer Fund". Your fellow employees can't pay their bills.......So you're "expected" to donate to the "Homer Fund" and help them out...............
Think about that for a minute.
If your fellow employees can't afford to pay their bills, then chances are you can't either. And, just who in the hell is it that pays them anyways?
More of a PR thing, to make management appear compassionate? I think so.

Yep, and that's a good thing. I can't recall the name of the company, but NPR interviewed some CEO recently who is moving a production facility back to the US from Mexico to......Illinois, IIRC?

Yeah, my nieces husband was hired on full time at an aluminum extrusion plant somewhere near Youngstown about six months ago. He's been doing the temp thing for years and hated it, but had little choice, being a highschool dropout. They must be doing okay, he bought her a new car recently. (Then her oldest son wrecked it. New car tags still on it. Idiot. )
The new tube mill (V&M) in Youngstown has begun hiring, and some guys I know who work at RG Steel in Warren say they've been racking up the OT lately. No hiring there as yet, though.

The only reason I wass there was that I needed a filter for my Rigid shop vac and Home Despot is the only supplier. Since their CEO announced that he as going to support the GOP I said not with my money, I'll go to ACE or Lowes.
