Clinton backer George Clooney condemns 'obscene' sums in White House race

Quote:
Clooney made the remarks in an interview with NBC News' "Meet The Press" the day after he and his wife, Amal, hosted a fundraiser on Democratic Party hopeful Clinton's behalf Friday night with a price tag of up to $353,400 per couple.

"We had some protesters last night when we pulled up in San Francisco and they're right to protest. They're absolutely right. It is an obscene amount of money," Clooney said in excerpts released on Saturday. The interview will air on Sunday.
Quote:
In response to the dinner, the Sanders campaign on Friday evening sent out an email to supporters asking them to help reach their fundraising goals by chipping in $3.53 apiece, instead.
Why would a couple spend $350K+ for a dinner to support Hillary? What is a Hillary presidency going to cost the tax payers? And this is just the primaries.

Did you catch the rest of Clooney's statement? MSNBC's teaser half quote was fairly disingenuous, even for Chuck Todd.

The part about needing that dirty money to elect Democrats?

It doesn't do any good to elect Democrats when they are going to screw you in the ass at the behest of their corporate owners.

You might as well have Republicans in office.

Then at least when you get screwed in the ass it won't be by someone pretending to be your friend.

Heh...the essence of the Clinton candidacy.

It's the price of a Night in the Lincoln Bedroom lottery ticket.

Sorry Bob, you are missing my point. Question is why would a couple donate $350K to Hillary's campaign couched as cost for dinner to two?

BAM
That's just for the lottery ticket. How much for a guaranteed reservation?

Do you realize that only $2700 goes to the Clinton campaign and the rest goes to electing down ticket candidates?

I think you're missing the point. It's not about who gets the money. It's about who gives it and what they expect in return.

I get the insinuation, John. Even your candidate couldn't come up with any evidence of a quid pro quo on Clinton's part. Do you have any?
