one1 I am about to play my final Sonny Stitt for this day.

This is also from the fifties.

Sonny Stitt: SONNY STITT SITS IN WITH THE OSCAR PETERSEN TRIO.

The two giants are complemented by Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen.

This album contains a favorite of mine "The Gypsy".

one1, today I am going into my vault for more Sonny Stitt.

Sonny Stitt: NEW YORK JAZZ

Also from the fifties. Some beauties on this.
Keep it up there Don & Cleon and I'll have to break out some Bill Evans or The Curtis Fuller Quintet after some Neil, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD3bGEFxGC0.

Today I am in a soft rock mood and I reach for my favorite by a Jewish girl
who grew up in Brooklyn.

I never tired of playing this one. It is like this girl put all her writing skill in one album.

"You got to get up in the morning with a smile on your face
And show the world all the love in your heart."

I was expecting Barbara but Carole will do nicely. What a well of talent was The City, no wonder people stayed to work there.

The Jews who at the time inhabited a huge section of Brooklyn were exceedingly gifted, but for the most part exhibited and imparted humanists values despite being close to the dire effects of Hitler.

Ditto on the expectation. Barbara was the first CD that I bought with my first CD player. Her voice makes me weak in the knees.

She can cradle phrasing with her voice like few singers, and she has the basic chops to go with the insistence on perfection

Yes, absolutely. The USA would IMO be the more bereft of identity without them as without the Roosevelts I might add, and trying to imagine 20th century American music without Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copeland is just impossible.
