Where we’re at in pandemic: President’s top coronavirus adviser spreads misinformation about mask science, promoting Twitter to remove his tweet for violation

Quote Tweet

Monica Alba @albamonica

This tweet from Dr. Atlas, the medical adviser closest to the president right now, has been flagged by Twitter for violating its policies about misleading info. Atlas, a neuroradiologist who doesn’t specialize in infectious diseases or epidemiology, is often seen without a mask.

Rural Midwest hospitals struggling to handle virus surge

https://apnews.com/article/virus-out...c4c20fae6bc204

Quote:
“All of a sudden it hit, and as it does, it just exploded,” said Dr. Tom Dean, one of just three doctors who work in the county.

As the brunt of the virus has blown into the Upper Midwest and northern Plains, the severity of outbreaks in rural communities has come into focus. Doctors and health officials in small towns worry that infections may overwhelm communities with limited medical resources. And many say they are still running up against attitudes on wearing masks that have hardened along political lines and a false notion that rural areas are immune to widespread infections.
Dumbass Trumpkins. Well, at least many of them will be too damn sick to vote...

Steve Vladeck @steve_vladeck

There may be a *better* metaphor for how obviously empty the President's promises on health care have been than a book carefully bound with 2500 sheets of blank paper in it (the evidence of which he tweeted out himself)—but I'm really hard-pressed to think of what it could be...

Those who think they're smart for thinking tRump is smart. The virus will ravage them worse than it did NY. When the dead start stacking up like cordwood maybe they begin to realize that they were wrong to follow tRump.

Debunking the False Claim That COVID Death Counts Are Inflated
President* Trump, a congressman and conspiracy fantasists have repeated the myth. But three kinds of evidence point to more than 218,000 U.S. deaths

https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...-are-inflated/

Quote:
A persistent falsehood has been circulating on social media: the number of COVID deaths is much lower than the official statistic of more than 218,000, and therefore the danger of the disease has been overblown. In August President Trump retweeted a post claiming that only 6 percent of these reported deaths were actually from COVID-19. (The tweet originated from a follower of the debunked conspiracy fantasy QAnon.)

Now some facts: Researchers know beyond a doubt that the number of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. have surpassed 200,000. These numbers are supported by three lines of evidence, including death certificates. The inaccurate idea that only 6 percent of the deaths were really caused by the coronavirus is “a gross misinterpretation” of how death certificates work, says Robert Anderson, lead mortality statistician at the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics.
Facts? Trumpkins don't need no stinkin' facts!

Will Steakin @wsteaks

Trump: "If we tested half, cases would be half."

8 months into this pandemic and here we are

New Yorker @ThomB01
Replying to @wsteaks

If we stopped taking people's pulses deaths would be cut to zero.

White House chief of staff: 'We are not going to control the pandemic'

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/25/polit...ntv/index.html

So, after months of saying it was under control, was going to "disappear", etc, these incompetent assholes are just going to give up.
