Went over to Lawrence to hear some music tonight, and it was not Sobriquet.

It was my wife's idea, and it was quite enjoyable. We saw the Soweto Gospel Choir, which is obviously from Soweto, South Africa.

Another sample.

It's nice to hear something completely different sometimes.

Regards,

D-Ray

Thanks for sharing Don.

Have you ever noticed that in some of the poorest nations of the world the people still are able to find joy in music, dance, and beautiful, colorful attire? The resilience of the human spirit never ceases to amaze me. It seems to me there is a lesson to be learned.

That means Right Wing governments are terrific stimulators of artistic expression?

It means people culturally not overwhelmed by pervasive media and sports entertainment marketing continue to preserve folk art and festival traditions. This is partly due to some cultural barriers, and partly due to their being too poor to target so much.

Well although Britain has TV pretty much all over I still see Morris Dancers on the BBC news from time to time. In fact only las week and Florence asked 'What are they doing?' I have no idea but I at least knew who they were.
