I'm going to assume that the Walton's are in it for the money, and the social benefits are just a nice side effect.
Oh c'mon, fer chrrist's sake. It was a silly-ass sarcastic respose to your silly-ass suggestion that a Walmart contributes to neighborhood ethnic diversity.

Lets not forget who the woman was that sat on the board while Walmart grew into the anti-union monster it is today.

I don't see the issue.

Oh, sure, it smells but...
True. But, it confirms what those scum are all about. They don't give a flying shit about their employees......pro-union or non-union. It's a Scorched earth policy to behave this way......they'll burn down the whole damn thing rather than negotiate and compromise. An immature and petulant act.

I honestly can't understand why working class people support this kind of thinking. But, we now live in a country with significant numbers of people who will run to support a business that lies and blatantly screws their employees.

It truly is saddening to see my country reduced to this.

Well...let's not dump all the blame on the Walton family for all of it. The country is where it's at because educating oneself is too much trouble for Joe and Mary Six-Pack. Working class people support all sorts thinking, because to do otherwise involves some actual...thinking. As do middle class people. As do many educated and wealthy people. The latter, who are actually doing some thinking, do it because keeping the status quo (the current tax schedule, the current lack of regulation of business and industry, the current oligarchy which is supported by both political parties) is beneficial to them.

It's not keeping the status quo but changing it, devolving it into a society of a few haves and masses of have nots and know nots who are too fearful for their own well-being to even be able to think about anyone else's. They have so little and what they have is so precariously perched that they believe any social benefit bestowed upon those worse off than they are makes their lot worse. It's the "zero sum game" mentality they've been fed doing its work.

Joe and Mary Six-Pack have been told for nearly two generations that "going with your gut" is the beat way of experiencing the world. They've been told that public education, the very thing which made this country great, is evil and, to prove it, the people telling Joe and Mary this have gutted our schools' funding to the point where they can barely function and rewriting the curriculum to paint America's greatest strengths as evil.

This has been very, very carefully done and it isn't over yet.

By and large, America is getting exactly the government it deserves.

Didn't you used to use a signature quote about cynicism masquerading as wisdom?
