Trayvon was killed because Zimmerman was afraid due to a situation he (Zimmerman) caused.
Trayvon Martin's civil rights were violated. He had every right to be where he was, doing exactly what he was doing.

Oh, the FBI said so? Well, there we have it.

"He looks black."
Okay, well that's just answering a valid question.
"He's coming towards me. And he's a black male."
Why was it necessary to assert Martins race twice?
"These assholes always get away with it."
What "assholes"? And, "get away" with what? Martin hadn't done anything at this point.
I dunno, Dave. It smells a little fishy to me.

And, he ran. Why? Unless he felt threatened....................
We'll never know, unfortunately. And, that's the problem in this case and why Zimmerman walked. The prosecution had litlle solid evidence, their case was not very well prepared.
At this point, it is what it is. But, it's not over. You can bank on that.
Hopefully, this will bring more scrutiny to Floridas SYG laws.

lol
There are two types of people. Those that know Trayvon was targeted because he was black and acknowledge it and those that know Trayvon was targeted because he was black and do not acknowledge it.

It was Zimmerman's fault that Martin attacked Zimmerman? Interesting.
Zimmerman also had a right to do exactly what he was doing. If he didn't, you can bet that the FL attorney general's office (with the US Justice Dept looking over their shoulder) would have made sure that it was added to the list of charges against Zimmerman.

I guess so. The media never tires of reminding us that Zimmerman is a "white hispanic."

Um........actually, Maybe so. Was there provocation, Mike? Ya don't know do ya?
I would say "yes" except we don't really know that Martin attacked Zimmerman first. We know he hit him, shoved him down on the sidewalk. But we have no idea if this came first, or if it was a reaction to something. A blow thrown but missed, perhaps? I really don't know either. Neither did the Jury. That's why they had to let him go.
The only living witness to the incident is Zimmerman. And I'm sure he'll carry that info to his grave.
As an aside; I think Zimmerman deserved to get his ass beat just for being a dork. But, that's me. I'm crazy that way.

We know much more than that, Dave. We have at least one witness, whose testimony was not impeached, who saw Martin on top of Zimmerman raining down blows. This was described as "ground and pound" "MMA - style."
http://abcnews.go.com/US/video/georg...fight-19520711
Whatever happened before this, IMHO, becomes less relevant. If the witness is correct (and I have to think the jury thought he was), this is a pretty savage form of attack. If someone had me pinned like this and beating on me, I'd be concerned about whether I might survive the night.

This case is over, just another example of blind justice being the final outcome. It should not be surprising to any that the shooting of another young black male ended this way. Added to this the place of the trial being in the South. I had hopes for a different verdict, a reworking of the law on self defense and lethal force. But neither seem to be on the horizon.
