If people wanted it why not. I do not think it would have been too different from the first Bush presidency...oh yeah and that President for Life? We're still in his shadow thank God.....pick up your Social Security check lately?

Yes, it would have. As it is believed that by 1988, Reagans Alzheimers was already starting to affect his memory and cognitive functions. But, I'm sure conservatives would have turned out in droves to vote for him anyways.......

The Reagan thing I caught in an interview with Alexander Haig, IIRC it was on Charlie Roses program. He said the last few months he was in office, "others" were making the important decisions and the president was basically just there for his signature.
FDRs health was very bad in his third term. Enlarged heart as I understand it. He did smoke a lot for a long time. I would agree, Pete, he probably should not have run that last time. As it turned out Truman was not a bad successor.
Honestly, I don't see why anyone wants to be POTUS anymore. Let alone do it for more than 8 years. You can see the toll it takes on them. They all come out grey haired and wrinkley, even if they only serve one term.

Yeah his health was really bad by the time of Yalta....I think Churchill was really surprised by the state of his health . However, I believe mentally he was still very much cognizant. I never bought that right wing he gave it all away to Stalin because he was sick mindset. There were Soviet troops on the ground in Europe at that time and after all the carnage and death in Russia from the Eastern Front battles they were not going to leave. He might have believed in the free elections promises by Stalin but there was no way in hell the United States was going to force the issue at that time, and Roosevelt wanted their support in the Pacific war against Japan.
Compare how FDR looks at Tehran (1943) and what he later looks like at Yalta (1945)
Tehran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHOO_1S_6Q4
Yalta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybnzMnFEWJY
The Russian with the goatee and glasses ( wearing the big hat in the Yalta newsreel) is Molotov, Soviet Foreign Secretary...talk about being a survivor.

Oh heck that thing wasn't really aimed at you guys. I hear what they say on the radio and it works me up. Sorry if I came across a bit heated.

So what concerns me is this: what is the plan?
I know we are told to be leaders- to be the change- blah blah blah. Reality is that we are all followers (at some level)... I don't mind that- as long as there is a worthy leader and a plan that I can believe in.
So this is my challenge to any would be leader:
Are you worthy? (show me the CHARACTER!)
What is the plan? (Yes, it has to be specific!!!)
