But WHY did they change parties? Each had their own reasoning. A larger percentage of republicans voted for the act than Democrats. So if they were so angry at the democrats for supporting it, why did they switch to the republican party?

And my point in all of this is that it focuses on one single event, in which the republicans MORE than the democrats supported the act, yet the democrats had a very long, AND BLOODY track record regarding blacks. Yet a few congressmen changing party affiliation AFTER the R's showed more support for the civil rights act suddenly changes everything? I'm not buying it. And history has proven it is nonsense. i.e. what have Republicans/Democrats done since then to support that perspective?

From what I've read, it sounds like he was motivated by racism. Of course, he doesn't represent any particular population. He represents himself. The world is full of bad actors. It's why some people are in prison, while many others are not. It's also why I now carry in my car when I visit urban areas nowadays.

I used to say the conservatives would win for this reason: The left owns the MSM, but the right owns the internet. And the reason I said that is that you can't comment on MSM news stories, but you can comment on internet stories. And the right uses a lot more logic in their responses while the left mostly uses emotion.

I saw this when I looked at the comments in forums 15 years ago. And then I would look at comments on FOX and CNN videos on youtube. What I noticed was on Fox videos, those that agreed would share WHY they agreed, and the leftists would just say the video was stupid, or they would ad-hom attack other conservative posters. But the lion's share of responses were from conservatives

Then I'd go to CNN videos. The leftists typically just said, "great video", "I love you guys", etc. Nothing substantial. Just a verbal equivalent of "thumbs up". But the conservatives would skewer the video with examples, links and, quite often, very well thought out rebuttals. And here is the interesting part - there were a LOT more conservative comments than leftist ones.

What changed my thinking? Cancel culture. Basically, the left - in the form of Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, etc. (iow, with teeth) started shutting down conservatives, demonitizing, etc. They literally came up with an institutionalized version of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUz4s5OktLE (it's interesting to note that this video is 12 years old)

It mattered for a while. But it backfired and now those voices are bubbling back to the surface - and the left is getting crushed.

I learned something way back in high school debate class in 1971: If you think the other side is stupid, but you can't come up with a quick and solid comeback - or even a well prepared one - it just may be that you are the one that is wrong.

And I learned from that. It's why I wll sometimes change my opinion on a subject or particular story as new information presents itself. And I'm seeing a lot of folks on the left do that. A prime example is the guy that said, during the Rittenhouse trial, that as he watched it he was shocked to learn that the guys Rittenhouse shot were NOT BLACK. Based on the way the MSM reported the story, he had been able to infer they were black. That sort of thing is happening to a lot of people.

It's called, "Being red pilled." And it's happening a lot. Honestly, it normally comes with age, information, and the ongoing acquisition of wisdom. But some people never get to that point.

That doesn't represent my experience, either with MSM or the internet. I guess my mileage varies.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Millions of American women and girls have declared themselves corporations in order to force the United States Supreme Court to grant them rights as people, legal observers have reported.

Attorneys across the nation indicated that they have been swamped by requests from clients seeking to incorporate as soon as possible.

“The Supreme Court decided in 2010 that corporations are people, so all we want is to be treated like corporations, ” Carol Foyler, who now goes by the corporate name FoylerCo L.L.C., said.

The decision by millions of women to incorporate sent shock waves through the Court’s conservative majority, who reportedly scoured the Constitution in vain for a means to circumvent the ingenious tactic.

Even the normally taciturn Clarence Thomas was moved to issue a rare public statement. “It’s a sad day in America when the nation’s highest court is forced to treat women like people,” he wrote.

Well, I confess that the "fox" videos I was focused on were mainly Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson, while the CNN ones I focused on were on major topics. The conservatives didn't really bother with the minor stuff. It was also focusing on folks like Cuomo, Lemon and Stelter. Those three are low hanging fruit. Also, one is gone and at least one of the others is, IMO, on the chopping block.

Hard to imagine anyone is so utterly ignorant that The New Yorker is new to them. Careful, they deal in facts and journalism. Scary stuff for cultists.
