Everything seems fine until you cross the wrong people at the wrong time. And there is nowhere on the planet that is not true.

This is why I carry. The only one that is protecting me is me. The cops are there to find out who did it. My job is to keep them from doing it.
True, that, tho I no longer carry. I'm still CC carded.

One of my favorite books in my dad's large library growing up was a collection of Balzac's short stories, called Droll Stories, with the fabulous Ralph Barton illustrations.
Since you had to assume, I'll assume you're unfamiliar with the quote.

My English teachers were right, spelling is important.

I pretty much agree with most that is said here and I can't really add much more.

The Chaz situation will stop I think when the bystanders who don't want to be there but have to be because of business or residance. Herd that some are now hiring private security since the cops aren't responding to calls.

Wow... that's sad and frustrating to say the least.

A prolific writer, quoted hundreds of times. A favorite:

That a bit too pessimistic to be COMPLETELY true IMO. But overall I couldnt argue the premise.

As a tech nerd I have to bring up how Nikolai Tesla gave his patent of AC electricity up to Westinghouse voluntarily (free aka $1) as he knew how much benefit it would bring mankind vs litigating it in any way in court. Westinghouse made off very well.

It reminds me of how in another thread I brought up the idea of if police were made to wear cameras at all times and recorded at all times if the general public would agree to waive their right to bring law suits against the PD if it meant bad cops would be weeded out quicker and without question for the greater good of the public.

Does real social justice out weigh a right to personal financial gain?

BTW I liked your post about solar panels in the thread about polarized climate change. IMO your clearly passionate about your positions. As someone like myself who doesnt feel I have all the backstory answers I wish youd elaborate on why you feel what you feel. Really. I feel Im learning allot here from everyone. Please do explain more in your posts if you dont mind. I dont know much of the left logic and want to get a better idea of it all. Not sarcastic.

I would put it this way: Behind every FAST fortune lies a great crime - or lotto win.

My son is quite wealthy and he did it through unbelieveably hard work and faith. And it all started from being unjustly fired as a truck driver and winning a $10,000 judgement because of it. And he started his company after that event about 15 years ago.

How big is his company? You know that stimulus we all got? His company got $410,000.

BTW, my brother in law is a billionaire. He started his fortune with a trophy company in a small US city. How did he do it? Trophy companies are notoriously unreliable. He made sure that every order was on time, no matter how much midnight oil he burned.

And one of the Programmers I went to COBOL school with was a natural born leader. He and I both started at the same company in the early 80's. We Both moved to the same company about 3 years later, and we both moved from there to the same company seven years later because that company was purchased. At that company he rose through the ranks to become CIO (The role is often called CTO nowadays) of that Fortune 100 company. He retired 11 years ago and cashed in over $9,000,000 in stock options (this is public record).

The belief that people are rich because they are crooked has even less credibility than the belief that people are poor because they have low character. Every case is unique. This has always been true: Work hard and make wise decisions and it will have a positive impact on your bank account. Sit around smoking dope and watching TV and it will, similarly, have a negative impact on your bank account - even if you win the lotto, because you will just throw it all away and be back where you were (and probably worse).
