MILES DAVIS: Miles Smiles

The second album by the second great quintet.
The music here has a less formulaic feel to it.

Love especially "FOOT PRINTS".
Pianist Herbie Hancock is sparing but effective and the
teenager Tony Williams is playing beyond his age.

That's a lot of Miles Davis, Don. I guess you can never have enough of the music you love. In my case it's 'The Last Waltz' by The Band

Yes I am a jazz fan since my teenage days and Miles is a huge part
of my memory. Weird part is his music changed over the years and I
found myself unable to listen to the music of his later years.

However his discography is so large that I can comfortably ignore those
last years.

Miles Davis: IN A SILENT WAY

The beginning of his "electric phase".
This one caused some consternation.
Miles included the British guitarist John McLaughlin
and it gave the music a different feel.

A beautiful album nonetheless.

Icenine might like this.

Nice finds!

Venturing further into Miles' electric jazz or jazz fusion.
The rock crowd really loved this one and it was a huge commercial
and artistic success...Grammy award.
After 40 plus years I am still ambivalent to it.

I will now close my revisit to Miles Davis and his music with the beautiful

Seven Steps To Heaven

Some bold, forceful, full body sounds here from tenor sax man GEORGE COLEMAN.

I do not have that one yet but I have Big Time
sounds like a soundtrack to a 1960s Japanese monster movie lol
