What Ike listed is, for the most part, the GOP party platform. It's not just the most extreme or cherry picked. It is the very platform they roll out at their conventions when election time comes around.

That party platform is exactly why so many of us have dropped the "R" from behind our name.
Got to agree with that.

I have to admit, the quicker they shut up about God and abortion the better I'll like it. I don't have a problem with federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, although the thought of it kind of creeps me out. As far as that goes, adult stem cell research kind of creeps me out as well. But far be it from me to stand in the way of knowledge. Just don't sell the patent to Monsanto.

Firearms? That wagon rolled out of town years ago. And if you look at how many states now have CCW laws, it's apparent that the general population is more in favor of firearms possession than the government is. I'm sure there are plenty of Republicans who would like to ban firearms as well, but they know it's a non starter and a political death knell.

I don't see that the Republicans are out to destroy the unions, more like to reform the public unions. As far as vouchers to send Little Johnnie to a private school...you have to admit a lot of public schools are pretty dismal.

On healthcare, the Pubbies apparently wish to continue to use the same pitiful system we currently, and the Donks just institutionalized it. I would think that there is at least ONE politician who is bright enough to articulate an argument for single payer which could stand on it's merits, perhaps the system is too corrupt to entertain this notion.

Personally, I see party platforms as no more than preaching to the choir, and getting the faithful to church on Sunday so that they can tithe. Basically, a pack of lies for the suckers.

Sure the GOP stinks, but so do the Democrats. Which one stinks the worse is dependent on where you're standing and the direction of the wind. Now I can appreciate the disgust that the majority here have for the Pukes, I just happen to think that on a lot of other issues, they smell slightly better than the Donks.

When you get right down to it, I don't trust either. And that's because they're down it the locker room splitting up the take while we're out here bashing one another in the head with folding chairs.

P.J. can be entertaining, I'll give him that. He's better taken with a few grains of salt and some mescal though, imo.

Yes, we've all seen that Republicans don't use the IRS to collect taxes. They send Boy Scouts around, hat in hand, to politely ask for your contribution.

Yeah. Two people make shitloads of money off of it, then they haul ass the instant they find "...a more favorable business climate.".....in some low wage shithole like Bangladesh or Mississippi. The rest of us get stuck with unemployment lines, food stamps and superfund sites.

O'Rourke is such a moron, sometimes.

I wonder if mescal would be any better if it were watered down with lacquer thinner?

Try a bottle of Tres Generacions Anejo by Sauza (in the black bottle) You might be pleasantly surprised. It's sippin' tequila. Too bad all the yuppies have driven the prices up in recent years but it's no more pricey than a good bourbon.
