Not her job tho a reasonable plan 'B', lacking the absent guard staff. Even so without good instruction, practice, and constant range training more likely to result with an armed prisoner and dead staff member.

Don't know why the teacher-in-prison story is in a gun thread, other than as an invitation to a new two minutes hate. I trust no one thinks a gun on her hip would have been a good idea in that environment....
BTW, 40 million sounds like the right idea. And criminal charges if the staff set her up.

That would be a terrible place to arm a teacher. You go from a violent rapist armed with a pen to a violent rapist armed with a pistol. Basically, her being alone with those guys was beyond negligent, and there are other possible issues, but none would be solved with guns, except possibly in the hands of a response force.
Your opinion about blame is emotional blather. Blame here goes to the perp, and the staff that failed to provide for the teacher's security.

No, because it's better for criminals in prison not to have guns. You don't ordinarily want to introduce guns among a prison population. Consequences of an inmate grabbing it could be really bad. Much better that there's no gun to grab.

If a shrink needed his firearm in a hospital, NOBODY should work in a prison without a firearm. Don't you get it? The woman had no chance & to even insinuate that she was safer unarmed is beyond stupid!
