You lose me at Consumer Reports. This is the same jokers who praised the quality of Hyundai in the late 90's saying they were the best buy because of their low price point. Couple hundred thousand head gaskets later I bet they regret that recommendation.

I do however love the new American cars. The Fusion and Impala especially are really sharp looking.

Funny two guys were delivering stuff yeaterday so I said put it in the garage. They looked at the his and hers Impalas and thought they were great. I said yes pretty good for 13 year old cars- they did not believe me.

One of my first oh shit this thing is fast moments was in an Impala. Can't remember the years made, must have been late 90's when they offered the SS with the Corvette LS1 motor. A friend of a friend let me take his for a ride. I expected the normal 200+HP six until I punched it. Nothing like the feeling of rear wheel drive power planting you in the seat. I'd love to find one of those still around but I bet guys blew em up and wrecked em all by now.

I was sitting at a red light one night when a Toyota of some sort pulled up next to me. The young man started revving his engine making that irritating fart pipe noise. His girlfriend looked over at me and said, "Sir, please humiliate him." So, I put the Mighty Bluestreak in performance mode. When the light turned green she let out a loud roar, tires screaming and launched so hard it put butterflies in my stomach. I reached the next light and came to a stop. They pulled up next to me, she leaned out the window and calmly said, "Thank you. That was awesome."

You should have asked her to come ride with you.

The 3.8 in the 2000 is not to be dissed. One day Florence was sitting at a light and some young whippersnapper is next to her in a Jag. He is in a right turn only lane but she knows he plans to cut her off. When the light went green she stuck her foot through the firewall. She was real polite, she did smile and wave to him in the rear view mirror. You just can't trust thse little grey haired ladies these days.

The last of the hotrod Impalas was 1996 with the LT1, pretty pretty:
I had the same chassis with the LT1, a 96 Buick Roadmaster wagon. Beastly, but gave off a slightly different vibe /sarcasm lol.
The 3800 is the six cylinder of American small block V8s Rob your wife beating the jag - awesome. Better not let her near the new Caprice cop car, 'vette V8 RWD.
