Edit just for you BH -Scranton was one of the walking dead before we embarked on two unfunded and extremely expensive wars. Extreme meaning having halliburton, kbr and blackwater doing the war profiteering two step limbo coupled with massive tax breaks that overwhelmingly benefitted the base of the Repubs ($250k and above tax bracket)
which emptied the Treasury. You know all of this so I assume you're just making sure that I'm not drunk or stoned.

Just cut and paste BH. San Berdoo? Costa Misery got caught with their pecker out over claims of being broke and wishing to outsource most of this little burgs city functions like fire, maintenance of everything, bldg. dept and dog catcher. What is surreal is that these teabaggers deny this independent audit of the city finances that they commissioned!!! Nobody in any red state has a more wacked city council and Mayor than here. Freakin' Wisconsin is tame by these standards. If anyone wants to vet this, the official name is Costa Mesa.

LIBOR had an effect also by news accounts. Just how much is to be determined.
Fixing of interest rates in a dishonest fashion would most definitely have an affect on the struggling munincipalities cash flow/bottom line.

So far Romney hasn't been blamed but he will or will it be Obama?

Things in Stockton are a mess.
I work in downtown Stockton (not for the city) and what brought the city to bankruptcy was the health care benefits for retirees.
While this is true in this case, not all government workers recieve health care benefits in retirement. My guess is that most don't.....at least, in my neck of the woods.

But, this situation gives me hope for the health care act. The retirees are now planning some sort of legal action against the city... (injunction?) but, it is doubtful they have much recourse. There just isn't the money. So, now, all of a sudden, this primarily republican cow town is thinking that national health care might not be such a bad idea.
Perhaps the people in other cities facing the same thing will also come around to appreciating the rewards of a national health care system.
Having said all of that....I do feel for those who will suffer due to lack of health care in this situation.

I have also heard people here talk about Medicare for all now. Ones that support the Tea Party and I suspect only dislike ACA because Obama and the Left were behind it.

When is the country gonna wake up and realize that the current system of revenue is not working. Nothing is trickling down, just going to the top and then into an overseas account. When the insanely rich paid a much higher tax burden our society as a whole seem to work better.

It seems that when our Treasury Secretary was President of the New York Fed he question Barcley's about the way they were setting the LIBOR so I guess the ball is in Romney's court.

The way I see it, Barney, those that never thought they would have to worry about their health care are now realizing how precarious their situation is.
If they had been aware of the plight of so many others without adequate access to health care sooner, we, as a country, could have been more proactive and nipped some of these problems in the bud.
But, back when Hilary was pushing a national health care plan..... There were just too many people with the "I got what I need, too bad for those who don't" attitude.
