Another Man Who Said ‘I Can’t Breathe’ Died in Custody. An Autopsy Calls It Homicide.
Manuel Ellis of Tacoma, Wash., died in part as a result of how he was restrained, according to the medical examiner, who concluded that his death was a homicide.

It's an epidemic.

A good gesture.

One of the things that has frustrated me about politics in the US for my entire life is politicians giving things lip service but not actually doing anything. I wish they could be held accountable at the voting booth, but too often that is not the case.
I've said for a decade now, after my experience at Fort Knox, that for the black male (or any other race, for that matter) growing up in poverty in a poor area, the number one thing they should do is get out as soon as they can. And the quickest and easiest way to do that is to join the military. There they can get the character training and income they need, not to mention education mony, to do the best they can with their God given abilities. And then it is up to them.
Thing is, most civilized areas of the US are not systemically racist. Rather, it is only in certain neighborhoods that it is a problem. I'm speaking of the poor, uncivilized neighborhoods where most kids are bastards and being raised by grandparents, if at all.
But you have to make that first move: Get out.

Tragic, but are you aware of exactly how many times this happens in our country of 330,000,000?
It happens, and it makes the news when it does, but it is not epidemic. It is actually remarkably rare. Did you know that more unarmed white men die at the hands of police than black men? This is usually not race based, but poor and violent man in custody based. I've never had a police officer's kneee at my back, though I've been arrested. I cooperated. That goes a long way, no matter what your race.
Chris Rock covered this very well over a decade ago:

Free, White and 21: The Buried Catchphrase of Classic Hollywood

“Free, white, and 21” appeared in dozens of movies in the ‘30s and ‘40s, a proud assertion that positioned white privilege as the ultimate argument-stopper. It was a catchphrase of the decade, as blandly ubiquitous as any modern meme: a way for white America to check its own privilege and feel exhilarated rather than finding fault.

LINKEDIN EMPLOYEES USE FORUM ABOUT DIVERSITY TO DEFEND RACISM
https://www.theverge.com/2020/6/4/21...-floyd-protest
Trumpkins/rascists are everywhere. In my 34 years at Megacorp, in a highly educated, highly professional, highly technical environment, I was constantly reminded of it via comments from coworkers. Mostly directed at Indian coworkers (who were, by and large, much better at their jobs than the racists).

For cops who kill, special Supreme Court protection
The U.S. high court’s continual refinement of an obscure legal doctrine has made it harder to hold police accountable when accused of using excessive force.

Racism Is A Public Health Crisis. Ohio Wants To Declare It A Statewide Emergency.
Police brutality, environmental racism and the psychological toll of racial aggression are all health issues.

As nationwide protests continue over the death of George Floyd, a Black man who was killed when a white Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck last month, Ohio is trying to declare racism a public health emergency.
Other jurisdictions are exploring similar declarations, but if this measure is successful, Ohio would be the first state in the country to name systemic racism as a public health emergency.

Would never have thought of Ohio as a state on the leading edge of anything, but it’s an interesting start.

What are the physical ramifications of this? How will it change a person's day-to-day life? There is no hidden message in my question. I honestly don't know what this declaration actually means or does.
