Ziggy Stardust on my recapped Altec Santanas.....still a bit harsh but nice soundstage...maybe these Russian PIOs need to "burn in"...or is that another myth like cables?

I've heard from folks at AK with a whole lot experience than I that caps do indeed need to burn in. I'm not buying into that whole argument about cables though. Electrons are electrons and snake oil is snake oil.

It's probably more like your "ears" need to burn in. Read where Bob Crites claims new caps pretty much burn in while you're fetching a beer.

Oh, "The Greatest Audiophile Vocal Recordings of All Time", now "Chris Botti Live". Think "Concord Jazz" is next.

Damned dog is sitting in front of a speaker and howling along with the high notes.

I think we're wrong on snake oil.

Some of that snake oil was made from the likes of strychnine and formaldehyde. The good stuff was made out of the likes of whiskey and opium.

Wouldn't mind having some of that around for when my back goes out. It's kinda hurtin' right now.

We dis-agree here, bob. I used to think the same until I made that jump out of mid-fi land and could actually hear it

I just want to veil the harshness a bit....just experimenting. I am trying to love these speakers lol...they sound ok with this sort of BPC Made In Korea BSR xl-1400 linear tracker I have hooked up to it....the OEM cartridge is actually really quiet. When I get tired of the Altecs I will go back to my Kefs and various other speaks.
