"A judge in Cleveland on Friday issued a temporary restraining order against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign and a GOP political operative, preventing them from harassing or intimidating Ohio voters.

U.S. District Judge James Gwin ruled in a lawsuit filed by the Ohio Democratic Party that anyone who engages in intimidation or harassment inside or near Ohio polling places would face contempt-of-court charges. Gwin dismissed the Ohio Republican Party as a defendant in the case.
The lawsuit claimed that the Ohio GOP, the Trump campaign, operative Roger Stone and his political action committee, Stop the Steal, were conspiring to suppress minorities in urban areas from casting ballots on Tuesday.

The legal challenge is one of several across the country filed by Democrats claiming Republicans and the Trump campaign are pushing supporters to intimidate and confront voters on election day." LA Times

We're not talking about some generic sane and intelligent leader. We're talking specifically about Putin.

Trump loves Putin because he said nice things about him. A President Trump will continue to try to curry favor with Russia, for among other reasons, as payment for services rendered and stand clear while Putin re-establishes the Russian Empire. This is the reason for Putin's rapprochement with Erdogan, the reassertion of the Russian/Ottoman axis that formerly controlled Eastern Europe, Western and Central Asia and much of the Middle East. The New Great Game..

Meanwhile, Trump will damage the US diplomatically and politically in ways that Bush/Cheney could only have dreamed of. He will fracture our society as badly as or worse than the Civil War ever did.

A weakened and demoralized US is in Putin's interest. Again, why wouldn't he want this?

Putin's actions on Russia's periphery are basically reactive

2)Reassertion of the Russian/Ottoman axis (Geeze !)

The quick rap with Turkey is driven by (a) the desire to de-energize Nato linkage (Turkey is part of NATO) (b) economic reasons, especially oil and gas.

As to Trump fracturing the society:
Putin knows that the society is already fractured--that is what BLM is saying.

And no one can do worse than Bush/Cheney. That is why nobody, apart from McCain, wants or talks about boots on the ground

However the main reason why Putin, an educated Russian with a long history in government and international politics, would loathe to see Trump near the nuclear button, is Trump shows a propensity to shoot from the hip.

So there we have it. Putin is between Clinton,cold, calculating, dangerously predictable and Trump. A rock and a hard place.

Ah, the story is from Columbus O-hi-hole, thought it would have been LA. Trump has been wasting his money on TV ads here it seems. Usually the GOP, even with Koch dollars, aren't quite that stupid.
