So, 500,000 have signed up, on an enrollment goal of 190,000. But 13% (or 65000) have paid up. If true, that's 34% of the goal.
Now, were the numbers from the NPR interview just for Medical Mutual, or were they for all carriers across the state? Anthem, UHC, Aetna, and a number of other carriers also operate in Ohio.
Also, Medical Mutual might end up with a larger chunk of Ohio business than other carriers. They are the only carrier in Ohio offering coverage for services at the Cleveland Clinic via the products they're selling on the exchange. Apparently for any other carrier selling on the exchange, Cleveland Clinic services would be covered at the "out of network" reimbursement rate, or not covered at all.

Wow, so you make 20k per year which is ~$10/hr. You must pay for a bronze plan which has its premium, plus if you use it the deductible is almost 25% of your income before tax. And this makes sense? People in that scenario will run up a $3-4k bill at a hospital and never be able to repay it. It will bankrupt them just like it does now.

That's the general idea:
http://news.yahoo.com/health-plan-st...160838205.html
Of course, the ACA fans on this site will say that there's nothing new here. That insurance carriers don't do much else besides deny or limit coverage. But that missed the point that one could choose not to purchase such a terrible, evil product prior to the passage of the ACA. Now there's the added indignity of having to pay a tax penalty if you choose not to purchase such a product.

Here's the cheapest family plan in NY on the market. $142 x 2.85 for the family plan is $404 per month out of the employees pocket. Same to the employer. This plan has a $6000 deductible for families. So if you have this and use it to the deductible it will cost $10484 out of pocket. Even if I make 50k a year this would bankrupt me.

OK, looked it up. For two people, the cutoff is $21,404, so he makes it if married. If he's single, he's looking at a subsidized purchase on the exchange, or he'd be able to get 'catastrophic only' for bottom dollar.....

Not necessarily. A lot of it depends on how lucky you are.

Heard of a new wrinkle to the ACA. Seems that those in Indiana can no longer see Doctors in Kentucky or other states.. So those living in a area like myself where a river separates two states in one metro area are FKD!.
Heard the insurance carriers are blaming the President WTF! INDIANA DECIDED TO GO IT ALONE! Not enter an exchange.
