From the horses mouth.

Trump tells court he had no duty to 'support' the Constitution as president

Quote:
But Trump's lawyers are arguing that the specific language of the Constitution argues that this requirement only applies to people in offices who are bound to "support" the Constitution — and the presidency is not one of those offices.
Constitution for thee but not for me. DJT

The Constitution specifies the Presidential Oath of Office, in which he swears to "...preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

So are they claiming that doesn't say anything about following it? I'm pretty sure that interpretation simply spits in the face of 'original intent.'

On edit: on reading the story, I see "support" is the magic word. So they claim you can "preserve, protect and defend" and that isn't "support?" They are spitting in the face of the dictionary, and all logic and intelligence. They should be disbarred just for making that argument. Casts the legal profession in disrepute, it does.

If the tRumplican party manages to put him back in office that revered document will be worth about as much as used TP.

The voters my friend, not the tRumplican party. In fact that party is doing everything to destroy our democracy as evidenced by the latest turn of events in the House of Representatives. No leader, no functioning House and another government funding deadline in a month. MAGAts in the House would rather go through a government default than compromise to elect a Speaker. Also forgotten seems to be the fact that about 150 Republican House members voted not to certify the 2020 election and yet in 2022, "we the people" gave the House back to the Repugnants.

Edit: Republicans flipped seats in NY and CA! The shame of it all.

Respectfully, attributed to the wrong end of the horse.

Eventually, a few Republicans will be found to vote for someone the Dems will support for speaker. The Republicans being non-functional, the Dems have to run the House now.

Today it will be proven beyond a reasonable doubt if the Trumplican party is a Fascist party.

Republican Speaker of the House election is to be conducted today, a floor vote in the House of Representatives and it is extremely likely that Gym Jordan is voted as Speaker. With Faux/hannity muscle and arm twisting over the weekend, even more importantly outing those who are opposed to him to expose them for MAGA threats, this is strong arming for votes. Doubt very many Repugnants will stand up against this. Only Fascists elect thugs as their leader.
