The define reporting on Trump's crimes as 'interfering in his business relationships,' and tell a WAPO reporter they've got a dossier on him. 1st Amendment? Ha ha ha!

Just imagine if this crook remains in office. The U.S. of A. is done.

What is going on corresponds to what I call the authoritarian playbook. Donald Trump is not interested in governing the United States. He’s in office to enrich himself off public office, help his cronies and build his personality cult. Again, people are anchored to an old-fashioned understanding of what the presidency should be in a democratic country. It is very hard for the public to make the leap to how Trump is a fundamental break from American tradition.

Now, if we start explaining how America is in fact in an authoritarian situation with Donald Trump and his administration, then another question arises. One of the reasons so many people are scared is that to admit the truth about Trump and authoritarianism then means they have to do something about it. Many people do not want to take that leap.

Yes, there are protesters in the streets. But the American business elite also must make that leap by accepting the reality of the situation. History teaches us that it is conservatives who support authoritarians and their rise to power. The American business elites are going to have to change how they think. They are going to have to speak out against American authoritarianism and Trumpism. American business elites have to make a decision about where they stand relative to Trump and authoritarianism.

The American people are going to need to make decisions about where they stand as well. It is easier to not make a decision. It is easier to just flip the channel, shift the topic, and pretend Trump and American authoritarianism are not really happening.
There is a whole interview with paragraphs and paragraphs that make as much sense as this one! Speaker is fascism and authoritarianism expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat. You can find it here: https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/is-...rian-playbook/

With know-nothings running the show, we're doomed to the same fate as no-longer-Great Britain, which once ruled the world.

This isn’t an administration. It’s an ongoing criminal conspiracy.
By Max Boot

Quote:
In the past, I would have argued for leaving Trump alone after he steps down so as to end our “long national nightmare.” But now I am convinced that Trump’s wrongdoing is so pervasive and brazen that he must be prosecuted to uphold the rule of law and deter even greater lawbreaking by future presidents. If elected, President Biden should appoint a special counsel of unimpeachable integrity — a widely respected former U.S. attorney or federal judge — with a wide-ranging mandate to investigate Trump and his administration. That prosecutor should finally summon Trump to testify orally under oath or assert his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination — something Mueller never did. If Trump did testify, it would almost certainly result in perjury charges.

Trump could try to short-circuit justice by trying to pardon himself before he leaves office — or even by resigning a few hours early and having Vice President Pence sworn in to issue a pardon (as President Gerald Ford did for Richard Nixon). In that case, the special counsel would be limited to investigating Trump’s accomplices (unless they are also pardoned) and helping state prosecutors. But the special counsel should still issue a comprehensive report on Trump’s lawbreaking. We must expose and root out this ethical rot before it eats away at the foundations of our democracy.

2nd world anyway. As I said, we may wind up needing something like Ukraine's 2017 revolution. Not having a land border with Russia will be a big advantage.
