With no way to actively stop it, it is imperative that we have a speaking relationship.

They'll continue full speed with or without a deal. So, what the hell do we think we're going to accomplish?

No, it's not. The status of their current stockpile of enriched uranium was an essential point to getting this far in the talks. Its wasn't a bargaining chip - its central to the objective of the entire deal.

Talking with the Germans still ended up with Nazi invasions. Talking with Japan still lead to Pearl Harbor. So, if an Iranian nuke is inevitable, as destabilizing as that will be to the entire region and beyond, what good does it do to talk about it?

Does anyone here really believe that if Iran does develop a nuclear weapon that they would use it? Crazy as the Ayatollah is I doubt he is suicidal. They know damn well that Israel has them and Bibi sure as hell would not hesitate a second if his radar detected incoming. He is nuts enough to launch first and wait and see what kind of missile it is. Frankly with Bibi at the helm if I was an Iranian I sure as hell woukd want equality.

And as history has shown, imposing sanctions on countries that want to develop nuclear weapons has not worked. North Korea, India and Pakistan are examples. Besides as Merrylander has posted above, how is anyone going to convince the Iranian people that they cannot have nuclear weapons when Israel does. So all one can hope for is to slow the development and engaging Iran multilaterally can do this. Of course the GOP would like to portray this as weakness by Obama.

And last I heard, talks are still going on and the longer it takes the better it is.

I would be more worried about the nuclear weapons in Pakistan than any in Iran. Don't ask me why.

Talking with Libya resulted in them ditching their program. Same goes for South Africa.

As long as Bibi thinks it's a bad deal, it's probably a good deal. His record in predicting events (and prompting US action) in the Mideast equals that of his American Doppelgänger, Dick Cheney.

I am sure the direction dials on our silos in the mid-west will be modified in a southern direction the day the Iranians get the bomb.
