LOL! I know driver break-in is real, but I wonder how much of it is our ears

I have the 3 way W70Es and like them. They are in my office and are only used for low level listening. I do agree with Icenine that they can get a bit boomy at higher SPLs. I thought they were better than my Polk Monitor 10s for low level listening. Overall, they are rather polite IMHO with outstanding mids. I originally was going to ewave them but decided I liked their mid performance enough to use something else for ewaves.

Mine are a real mess...someone put wheels on the bottom. And the bottom trim is broken off. Jazz can sound really good on them. Some of the connections on my crossoevers are not even soldiered. My Jolida 6bq5 amp sounds pretty good with it...I do not have the purple tweeters...mine are the 4 way W70d.

As I currently have to switch back and forth patching it in and out of the McIntosh to listen to it....I haven't been doing much of that.

I am fixin' to build a multi-input Haller attenuator for it though. Then, with some rearranging of equipment, it will become a standalone system.

Cool! I'm dyin' to hook up my 150s to those 604E's once I can find the time to build some cabs. Ol' JBS offered up a pair of Altec badges for my build. How cool is that?

What sort of cabinet iz you gonna build?

These are very versatile drivers. There are even a number of very nice and simple open baffle designs.

I like these.

Those are different. What's the story on those?
I've been looking at Billfort's corner design and someone mentioned the Stonehenge design. I'm under the impression that they need a 9 cubic foot enclosure to develop the Altec bass feel? Doin' the research before I unbury my tablesaw and start turning baltic birch plywood into expensive sawdust.
