Fortunately we need no more systems here, just perhaps the odd RTR tape or LP to pickup.

Newest hobby is setting up a family photo gallery in the Playroom.

Ordered four more picture frames last week because I just came across the wedding photo of Florence's beloved grandmother, also Florence, and one of her at about 16 in her school uniform. At least the good Sisters had taste.

We're going to see Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi on June 18 here in KC.

Here is a clip from when Derek was 13 years old and opening for the Allman Brothers.

Regards,

D-Ray

You might want to ask on the AK tube forum about that. Is that PP (4 tubes)? You might be asking too much of the design by bumping the heater voltage requirements.

Shouldn't make any difference. Voltage is potential, the tubes will draw no more than the 6 volts the circuit supplies. As I said, 6v into a filament rated for 8v should be fine. The other way around would more likely be a problem as you would be sending an overvoltage to the filament.

Ohms Law; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohm%27s_law

As a matter of fact, running lower voltage to the slightly heftier filament should only mean that the tube will live a longer, happier life.

Where is Chas when I need him? He could probably explain this better.

Look at it this way; How many guy do you know that have rewired the pinout on their maggies to run 12AX7s rather than 6EU7s?

All they did was rearrange the wires to match up to the 12AX7. You still only have 6v going to the filaments rated for 12v. Right? Does their shit burst into flames? No.

Relax, there is nothing to go all Bengazi over here.

Dave

Most of those twin triode 12nn7s had the heaters centre tapped so that they could also run off 6 volts. Running an 8 volt heater at 6 volts should prolong the tube's life. That is if the heater will heat the cathode enough to make it emit electrons.
