Where did it go?
Yes, you did. And, passed with bi-partsan support. So, they lay them off, then pay them anyways.....eventually.
Which shows me that the whole thing is just more "theater".

Must be old debt. We used to borrow heavily from Japan in the 1970s-80s (IIRC). Before the Chinese became the worlds Communist bankers.
Which, kinda goes to make my point. Have the Japanese come to collect?

And, how in the hell can we possibly owe the banks anything? If anything, they probably still owe us a few hundred billion.

Our present system is designed to always owe banks something. Wall street owns the country.

Whoever we import a lot from winds up with bunches of dollars and no good use for them. So they buy gvt bonds. Used to be Japan, now it's China too.

One thing I believe most people don't realize.....Our system has always been debt driven. Reading John Adams biography, he complained about it frequently. Debt and "intrigue", were his pet peeves as president.
What was that Yogi Berra said?

In private industry some debt is good so perhaps that is true for gov't. There is a line though. As a taxpayer I'm already on the hook for over a mil and you guys are too. Spend some more?

My debt is approximately 4x my annual income, but most of it is my house.
