Hammond IN, initially. Extreme NW corner of the state. Butts up against Chicago (and Calumet City) on the state line. Heavy industry type of place.
But, used to spend a big chunk of summers in White Salmon, WA, little town on the bluffs above the Columbia River. An orchards and lumber type of place.
And now I'm in Dayton, OH, a used-to-be manufacturing type of place.

I hear that like 20% of the folks in Dayton work for the federal government in some capacity, these days. Well, it is a Republican stronghold............

You can call White Salmon a used to be lumber type of place also. I have thought about moving there, but it is more of a commute than I am willing to drive at this time.
