'The Democratic Party Has Taken Back the Flag' C. Pierce

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics...nton-bus-tour/

Time to get on the bus Democratic party members and disaffected Republicans.

100 days left to send Hair T'Rump back to Mar el Lago.

Anything Clinton could do to lure disaffected Republicans to her side would be a betrayal of the Democratic base. That doesn't mean she won't do it, of course.

Despite all their noise, sturm and drang the far left has never been the base, John. I used to be one of those far left Yippies marching in DC in the early '70s and getting teargassed for my trouble. Then I grew up after Watergate & McGovern in '72. We thought we were changing the world overnight by just showing up to rallies, too.

The modern 'base' of the Democratic party consists of women, African-Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans and white guys like me in case you haven't noticed and we all voted overwhelmingly for HRC.

BTW, HRC doesn't need to actively court Repubs, Herr T'Rump is doing that for us.

If I had said that it was, your post might be relevant to the discussion. Since I didn't, it isn't.

How do you think the Democratic base would react to Clinton backing off her grudging support for a $15.00 minimum wage? Protecting and expanding Social Security? Support for unions? Limiting Wall Street's influence? Tax increases fro the 1%? Protecting Planned Parenthood? Repealing Citizens united? These are all things that the Republican establishment would require in exchange for their support.

Willfully ignoring the last point in my post? You're starting to remind me of Whell, John.

What? That Trump is Hillary's best surrogate? I just found that too ineffably sad to comment on.

How about a response to what I did say, as opposed to what I didn't?

Seeing as your hypotheticals were manure, I'll pass. You'll need to find someone else to indulge in such games. I'd rather watch grass grow.

Cheers.

edit - kudos for using 'ineffably' in a sentence. Lovely.

The far left of the Democratic Party and the idiots burning flags and acting up outside the convention halls are no more indicative of that parties base than the angry, paranoid douchebags who crawl out of their ammo and Spam filled bunkers to attend a Trump rally are of the GOP.

All that means is that smart, cunning politicians manipulate morons to get their votes.

I HOPE everybody here already knows that.

In other words you've always been a follow the herd conformist.

I, on the other hand was a Nixon voting conservative back in the day and am now a so************************t. In other words I'm not afraid to go against the grain and think for myself.
