I agree. Harris' playing had a very hard edge to it. Ponty is much sweeter and more melodic.

Have you ever heard Ponty's "King Kong" album? All Zappa material with FZ performing.

No but I will get that....I do like King Kong from Uncle Meat. I think Zappa is the only guy who could put in overdubs from completely different performances and make it sound so natural. He put in live solos onto studio songs too....hard to get away with that kind of stuff.

I think he was way ahead on sampling too with the fast edits on Lumpy Gravy and We Are Only In It For The Money....sort of reminds me of hip hop stuff in a way...

He was an astonishing talent, far more recognized, even today, in Europe than here. There's actually a bust of him in a park in Lithuania.

I think Some Girls sounds much more like the Stones....

I just do not like the violin on Burnt Weeney Sandwich...the rest of it is pretty good

I think Hot Rats is better
I got Some Girls when it came out, and still have the cover with all of the celebrity pictures. That, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers are my favorites.

Hot Rats has some great Zappa instrumentals.
