He said that Coffee Boy told him that he had learned Russians were going to hack into the Democrats' servers. The FBI felt that this information, along with all the contacts between Trump's staff and Russia, was proper predicate to start a counterintelligence investigation. The DOJ-IG and the SSCI both agreed. And the counterintelligence investigation found a boatload of illegal activity by the Russians and the Trump campaign. End of story.

If WaPo and NYT won Pulitzers while Fox is being scampering to settle out of court to keep their lying and cheating hidden (both here in the US ands UK), is that a real comparison?
Typically if WaPo or NYT has put out unverified/unreliable information, they will always retract at the very next opportunity, its called journalistic integrity. Faux has never shown to have any (note their cop out that they are entertainment yet call themselves news), but they did fire O'Reilly, Dobbs and now Carlson. Wonder why? Lawsuits and potential settlements and the reason I posed the question and it was part sarcasm. And trying to include NYT and WaPo was an idiotic whataboutism.

Good thing we still have real journalism like that practiced by NYT to counteract these Reich-wing lies, eh Whell?

In the words of Hannah Arendt, the acknowledged OG on totalitarianism:
“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist.”
And that, my friends, is the genesis of the entire "fake news" mantra by Trump and his MAGAts (not to mention Whell's objective in starting of this thread).

Tom Hanks' Harvard Commencement Address
Flapping banners exalted the university motto, “Veritas,” and Hanks took up the battle cry. “The truth, to some, is no longer empirical. It’s no longer based on data nor common sense nor even common decency,” he said. “Truth is now considered malleable by opinion and by zero-sum endgames. Imagery is manufactured with audacity and with purpose to achieve the primal task of marring the truth with mock logic, to achieve with fake expertise, with false sincerity, with phrases like, ‘I’m just saying. Well, I’m just asking. I’m just wondering.’”
The opposite of love is not hate, Elie Wiesel said, but indifference, and Hanks put the challenge before his audience of rising leaders and explorers, artists and environmentalists, teachers and technologists. “Every day, every year, and for every graduating class, there is a choice to be made. It’s the same option for all grown-ups, who have to decide to be one of three types of Americans,” Hanks said. “Those who embrace liberty and freedom for all, those who won’t, or those who are indifferent.”

Hanks is a wise person, worthy of that audience.
