Please a little lesson in English.

Tell me something about the term "jaundice". Is that quite the same as "cynism"? If so, when do you use jaundice and when do you use cynism? What about the term "misanthropy" in this context?

Let me try this Chris;

Misanthropy is the general hatred, distrust or disdain of the human species or human nature. A misanthrope, or misanthropist is someone who holds such views or feelings.

Now jaundice is a disease, causing the skin to turn yellowish especially the white of the eye, but in the usage of English to look at something with a jaundiced eye is to regard it enviously, even with hatred.

So no it is not really a synonym for a jaundiced eye view.

None of the above reflect the way I regard life as I will unabashedly admit that I am a total romantic alsways have been alwways will be, just to damn old now to change.

Thank you Rob my fatherly friend for these remarks and explanations.

"Jaune" is French and means "yellow". We also say: "Gelb (oder grün) vor Neid werden" - "turning yellow (or green) with envy". But there isn't the aspect of hatred in it.

RE the topic, sorry to see a thinking independent person depart. OTOH, I'd like to engage folks that can manage a discussion based on universally accepted facts and sources that may or may not agree with me without repeating opinions as if saying it over and over without supporting it with independent non-partisan data will make it so.

Independent thinking I can respect, lectures I can cheerfully do without. His post re the gun control topic was spot on and as clear a statement of the Constitution as any I have seen posted here. I can only surmise that it was the constant hammering of the opinion that the 2nd was designed so that people could overthrow the government should they feel it had gotten out of hand that caused him to leave.

Frankly it was the series of GB&U that tired me out waiting for a description of a good person. As you might imagine in 83 years my life has not been totally devoid of its nastier moments, However I did and I do try to rise above them and put those moments behind. Blessed now with the love of a good woman I find that much easier to do.

There I believe I got all the typos - damn macular degeneration.

Yes, or disapproving. I don't think it goes as far as hatred.

Tired me out too.

Sometimes the typos are keyboard related. I think I need a new keyboard.
